EQUITYSPORT APPOINT AN ALL-FEMALE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

equitysport is delighted to announce the appointment of their first Board of Trustees as the charity becomes a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) with the Charity Commission. Joining the board is; Charlene Hogg, Sarah Valentine-Bull, Charlotte Cousins and Garnet Mackinder.

equitysport Founder, Tim Harper, said of the appointments,

“Picked entirely on merit, I’m really excited to have such a brilliant group of determined and highly accomplished women leading the charity forward. Sport has some way to go to walk the walk when it comes to tackling patriarchal cultures and I’m delighted that we can lead the way with these appointments. We know that for equitysport to realise its mission, we have to match our ambition and determination with the structures, processes and strong governance befitting a charity striving to deliver genuine change on a global scale in sport. It’s clear that Charlene, Sarah, Charlotte and Garnet have the skills, experience, acumen, vision, and most importantly ambition and passion to take equitysport to the next level and I’m incredibly excited to be working with them all.”

The four new trustees provide a diverse skillset and varied experiences to drive the charity forward in what is a challenging time for the sector as a whole. South African-born Charlene Hogg currently works as legal counsel for TwentyFour Asset Management in London and is a qualified solicitor in England, Wales and South Africa. Prior to moving to the UK, Hogg was part of in-house legal teams at both Standard Bank and First National Bank in Johannesburg, working on legal matters in complex projects involving multiple African jurisdictions.

Garnet Mackinder, who currently works with Sport England as an Investment Partner has balanced roles with the Rugby Football Union (RFU), Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) and Try Tag Rugby with a career as an elite rugby player, playing for both Saracens and Wasps and representing her country with the England 7s team.

Charlotte Cousins, a successful netball player and coach who has previously been involved with national performance squads, started her career in manufacturing before joining supermarket-giant Tesco and completing a number of roles across change and transformation initiatives and now works as the supermarket’s Head of Change, People Transformation.

Propolis Professional Services owner; Sarah Valentine-Bull joins the board as a CIMA qualified accountant with a proven track record delivering success across multiple sectors in operations, governance, system development and organisational change amid challenging situations. A sporting all-rounder finding success in hockey, cricket, netball, cycling and swimming, much of Sarah’s sporting life now revolves around her two daughters, both of whom represent South Yorkshire in hockey, with the latter also competing regionally in swimming.
