EQUITYSPORT LAUNCH 24 HOUR FUNDRAISING EVENT AS PART OF GIVING TUESDAY
Updated: Nov 13, 2020
The equality in global sport charity, equitysport has announced they will be walking from Guildford to London in 24 hours via a non-stop walk this December, as part of the global initiative ‘Giving Tuesday’.
The charity’s founder, Tim Harper, alongside a small support team will start at the Olympic Torch sculpture in Guildford, Surrey at 00:00 on Tuesday 1st December. Tim will walk, stopping only when nature calls for the subsequent 24 hours, meandering through the Surrey countryside into London, and finishing the walk at the Olympic Stadium in East London.
The event aims to raise awareness of the mission and encourage donations to the charity as part of ‘Giving Tuesday’, an initiative launched in 2012 as a ‘global day of giving’ following the mass sales of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, a US-export which have grown increasingly popular within the UK. It comes at a crucial time for equitysport, as their fundraising plans have been hit hard by the onset of COVID-19.
After a hugely challenging year for the charity sector, equitysport hopes to raise as much money as possible via ‘24STR8’ for the charity’s projects, which work to advance equality, diversity and equal opportunity in sport.
