EQUITYSPORT PARTNERS WITH MALAWI UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

As part of an ongoing vocational training and job creation programme with Ascent Soccer, the international equal opportunity charity, equitysport have partnered with the Malawi University of Science & Technology based in Thyolo.

The Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) is a public university based in South Malawi that was built in 2012. Following an early engineering focus, the university has recently expanded its undergraduate programmes to include Sports Science.

As part of equitysport's ongoing commitment to delivering education, vocational training and job creation programmes in sport across the Global South, the charity has partnered with MUST to help develop accessible, legitimate, and locally-sustainable pathways into employment for sports scientists, sports medicine clinicians and other performance support staff in the region.

The first cohort of aspiring sports scientists are set to graduate from MUST in 2021, and as part of an exciting and unique partnership with equitysport and Ascent Soccer, the very best of the class of 2021 will have the opportunity to apply to work in the regions premier football academy (Ascent Soccer), with comprehensive mentorship support from the expert team at equitysport.

Tim Harper, Founder and Executive Director at equitysport said of the partnership:

"This is an incredibly exciting three-way partnership between equitysport, MUST and our long time partners, Ascent Soccer - one that celebrates international collaboration and cooperation without unnecessary imposition.

We know are confident that by pooling the resources, expertise and know-how of all three organisations, we will, together, be able to provide real opportunities to bridge the gap between study and employment in what is a very young industry in Malawi.

It's an exciting time for Malawian sport, and we're delighted to be playing our part in ensuring that it will be young, ambitious and highly qualified Malawian's that guide and shape its future."

equitysport will be providing regular updates on this, and all our other exciting programmes to our email subscribers, on our social media and via this website over the coming weeks and months - be sure to be subscribed (below) and following our social media channels!
