Loose change bucket collections and donation tins have always been a great way for us to raise vital funds. But since the COVID-19 pandemic changed the way we spend money, cash donations to charity collection tins are at an all time low.
Whereas before the pandemic, a well-placed collection tin could raise significant funds through loose change contributions, we're finding that people are preferring to use debit and credit cards when out and about. Whilst we've been deploying innovative solutions like 'text-to-give' and 'tap-to-donate' wherever possible, they are more expensive and attract considerably less donations than traditional loose change fundraisers.
We're determined to work around our largely cashless lives while still embracing the convenience and goodwill of making a small contribution to charity as you go about your day.
So instead of volunteering to shake a collection bucket at your local train station or at one of our pop-ups, we're asking you to hold a virtual bucket shake! Here's how:
-
Email us and tell us you want to hold a virtual bucket shake!
-
We'll send you a link to set up a JustGiving page (with ideas on what you might want to write on the page)
-
We'll set up your very own text-to-give code (e.g. Text TRACY to 70085 to donate £3)
-
Start your shake! Let your network know you're holding a virtual bucket shake to make global sport fairer and encourage people to donate the same they would throw in a charity bucket before COVID-19...
your potential impact
The money you raise will fund our work to make global sport fairer and more equitable for everyone. With your help we can actively advance equality, promote diversity and most importantly, extend opportunity to every corner of the sporting world.
£100 can fund one of our mentorships in an under-served sporting community for a whole month.
£250 can fund a grant to support structurally excluded communities and groups access and participate in sport as equals.
£5000 can fund the delivery of a training course to a 'hard-to-reach' group or sporting community in one of the poorest regions in the world, supporting local job creation and wider sociocultural and economic transformation.
