International Youth Day falls on 12th August 2020 and gives us all an opportunity to celebrate and mainstream young peoples’ voices, actions and initiatives, as well as their meaningful, universal and equitable engagement.

This year, the theme for the day is 'youth engagement for global action'!

Global sport is at a crossroads and with inequalities, failings and complacencies laid bare by the devastating COVID-19 pandemic, sport is scrambling to find its place in a world confronting a truly unprecedented crisis. Naturally, the very relevancy of sport is being questioned, and questioned too, is whether sport can deliver on its values of fairness, equality and diversity and its ever present assertion that is exists, at least in part, as an effective vehicle for social good and for change.

Without careful stewardship, we risk handing the next generation a Frankenstein-version of sport, one struggling to uphold it's ideals and one failing to cater to the global masses, to minorities and to the underserved and disadvantaged whilst capitulating under colossal commercial, sponsor and funding pressures that do little but exacerbate the inequalities and inequities that plague wider society.

As an organisation that exists to advance equality, diversity and equal opportunity in and through sport, we want to make sure the sports world that the next generation inherits lives up to its values and does a better job on delivering social change for everyone, regardless of who they are, where they come from or what their background might be.

To celebrate International Youth Day 2020, we are asking the youth of the world to tell us their BIG idea to make global sport fairer. We want you to think BIG and think GLOBAL

If you're aged between 15 and 24 years old and have an idea to make sport fairer, more equitable, diverse and inclusive, then we want to hear from you! Your idea can be anything at all - the only limitation is your imagination.

Have you got an idea for getting more girls to play your sport or breakdown the obstacles in the way? Or maybe you've got an idea for reducing the costs of accessing facilities? Perhaps your idea is a change in policy to make sport fairer for an under-served community on a local, national or even global level... whatever it might be, we want to hear it!

Our Board of Trustees are going to pick the best ideas as our winners! Not only will we share the ideas across our social media, but we'll also be inviting up to five of the best entrants to join a special Youth Engagement Panel to help advise our board twice a year on what matters to you, from our campaigns and projects to policy and strategy as we fight to advance equality, diversity and equal opportunity in sport.

We're keen to hear ideas from across the world, so wherever you are, wherever you come from and whatever your background, your ideas are valued here at equitysport
